Seven Mustached Men

Seven mustached fencers whose images have been cropped into small, dense closeups.

After touching upon the theme of fencers in 2020 Noir was looking to put the personas of these fencers to the test and illustrate them swordless-ly, depriving them of their character-defining weapons.

The small format of these paintings challenges the spray paint medium which is intended for mural sized projects. This deliberate gesture results in a painting that capitalizes on texture and grain while sufficing for broader impressions of facial features.
